Two People Killed During Attack on the PDVSA Plant in Yagua

January 1, 2019

In the early hours of yesterday morning a sabotage attempt was repelled at the Yagua filling plant of the state-owned company Petróleos de Venezuela (PDVSA), in the state of Carabobo, reported the Minister for Petroleum and president of PDVSA, Manuel Quevedo. The plant was entered by armed individuals who attacked the officials who guard the facilities, and after a confrontation two people were killed.

During a telephone interview with VTV, Quevedo said that the attack was neutralized by the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) and they are part of the terrorist plans denounced by the National Executive, which seek to alter the peace of the country.

“We must report from PDVSA to the whole country, an unfortunate incident, which was intended to sabotage the facilities of one of the filling plants of the company: The Yagua gasoline filling plant, in the state of Carabobo. This plant supplies the entire central region of the country,” he said.

“The attempted sabotage was thwarted thanks to the deployment of security in the facilities maintained by the Bolivarian National Armed Forces to counteract the plan. A plan that we have been denouncing and that has tried to affect the distribution of fuel in the country,” he said.

Quevedo said that armed individuals entered the plant who attacked the officials guarding the facilities, and after a confrontation two people were killed, one already identified and the other without identification.

He noted that officials of the Scientific, Criminal and Forensic Research Corps (CICPC) are already carrying out investigations and that this attack is related to the events that occurred at the Guatire, Miranda state, and Zulia state plants that were also attacked this month.

He also called on citizens to remain calm and not to echo rumors about the lack of fuel, because the state oil company has enough fuel to supply the whole national territory.
