Venezuelan Foreign Minister, Jorge Arreaza, urged the US government to reflect on the threat posed by the coronavirus pandemic to the world and to cease its aggression against Venezuela and other nations, economically attacked by them, preventing care and prevention against this virus.
“Hopefully the US government will take into account this complicated public health situation, reflect and stop their aggression against Venezuela, Cuba, Iran, Zimbabwe and the rest of the nations which they attack economically, since it makes it more difficult to respond to problems like this one,” he asserted.
The diplomatic recalled that the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the US empire affects all sectors of the Venezuelan population, impairing their quality of life: “It is also an aggression, which is multiform, has multiple fronts, it is an aggression that affects all sectors and dimensions of Venezuelan society.”
Arreaza stressed that the “pernicious effects of the blockade have been denounced before the United Nations Security Council, in the Human Rights Council, we have taken it to the International Criminal Court so that it can be investigated and neutralized there.”
That is why the nation maintains a position of defense of international law so that equality and fair conditions for the human development of peoples reign, he said.
“We embrace international law because it is the shield that peoples have so that equality reigns, so that we can advance in just conditions for the human development of peoples,” he said during an interview with the journalist Jose Vicente Rangel.
