The Venezuelan National Electoral Council (CNE) announced that it will comply with the ruling of the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ), which requested that the CNE publish the results of the presidential elections of July 28.
In a statement issued this Monday, August 26, the CNE informed that it received notification of the ruling issued by the TSJ’s Electoral Chamber, issued in the file containing the electoral contentious appeal filed in the framework of the presidential elections.
It also confirmed that the institution will abide by the decision and will comply with the order of the Electoral Chamber of the TSJ within the period defined the law, which is 30 days, expiring on Wednesday, August 28.
According to the TSJ ruling, the highest court of justice urged the CNE to publish the final results of the presidential elections held on July 28 in the electoral gazette of the Republic.
In the statement, the CNE highlighted that the TSJ declared the electoral contentious appeal as admissible. Based on the expert appraisal carried out, verified in an unrestricted and unequivocal manner, and supported by the report prepared by national and international electoral experts, the courts unquestionably certified the electoral material examined and validated the victory of President Nicolas Maduro.
They also stated that the judiciary confirmed that a massive cyber attack has been carried out against the electoral system. This campaign continues to affect numerous government websites and facilities.
Last Thursday, August 22, the Electoral Chamber validated the results provided by the electoral authorities for the presidential elections, in which Nicolás Maduro was declared the winner with 52% of the votes.
The mainstream corporate media has endlessly repeated the talking point that these poll-by-poll results must be published. This narrative has been repeated by US politicians and others. Countries traditionally close to Chavismo, like Colombia and Brazil, have even joined this campaign. Must importantly, millions of Venezuelans accustomed to the extremely high level of electoral transparency developed by the CNE in the last two decades are also expecting the publication of the detailed results of the elections.
