Colombian Vice President Upset by European Union Proposal on Venezuela

February 2, 2019

The Vice President of Colombia, Marta Lucía Ramírez, described as unacceptable the creation of a Contact Group, which will be integrated by countries in Europe and Latin America, which will supposedly work for the realization of new elections.

Through her Twitter account, the Colombian official said: “Unacceptable that Spain and Portugal pass over the majority position of Latin American democracies. The famous 90-day Contact Group only gives air to a criminal dictatorship, without taking into account the risk of the region. What would happen if we acted like this with Europe?”

On Thursday, January 31, the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini, announced the organization of this group that will create conditions for the realization of elections.
