The Sectorial Vice President of Communication, Tourism and Culture of Venezuela, Jorge Rodríguez, reported that he tested positive for the coronavirus Covid-19. “It is my duty to inform you that I have received a diagnosis of Covid-19 infection. Even though I am in good general condition, I must comply with the isolation and the necessary sanitary protocol in order to overcome the viral situation. A big hug to all of you!” he wrote on his Twitter account.

Rodríguez has been in charge of the Commission for the Prevention of Covid-19 in the country, and has issued part of the daily reports on the evolution of the pandemic in the country since mid-March.
This Wednesday it was known that the governor for the state of La Guaira, Jorge Luis García Carneiro, also tested positive for the virus that causes Covid-19. He reported on his account on the Instagram network that he is currently isolated and at rest.
“Dear people of La Guaira: I comply with informing you that I have tested positive for Covid-19 after taking the proper tests. Faced with a possible suspicion, I had taken the precaution to start applying the corresponding treatment. Always by the hand of God and with great will to overcome adversity, we are sure that in a few days we will continue with you to build the model state.

Venezuelan leaders and senior government officials have tested positive for coronavirus. The most outstanding case is the president of the National Constituent Assembly (ANC), Diosdado Cabello . Another was the sectoral vice president for the Economy and, Minister of oil Tareck El Aissami. Both complied with the treatments and protocols, overcame the disease and are currently at rest.
