Evo Morales Discharged After Recovering from COVID-19 (Photos)

January 25, 2021

Former Bolivian president Evo Morales was discharged today after spending a week and a half in treatment at the Los Olivos Clinic in the city of Cochabamba, recovering from COVID-19. According to the doctors, he has only a slight cough and does not present any lung complications.

“I am very grateful to the medical board, staff and workers of the Los Olivos Clinic for the care they gave me; that made my recuperation possible. My respect and admiration to them for their dedication and effort,” said Morales through his Twitter account.

The Aymara leader was detected positive for COVID-19 on January 13, after which he was immediately admitted to the clinic, complying with the treatment that his personal physicians had recommended.

“I am very grateful for the prayers of the different churches, the rituals of the amautas, the calls and messages that I received from Bolivia and abroad, giving me strength to overcome this virus that, unfortunately, is affecting so many families worldwide,” said the ex-president.

Bolivia has so far 200 thousand cases of COVID-19, with recovery rate of 75.2% and 9,927 deaths. This situation is the result of the terrible handling of the pandemic by former de facto president, Jeanine Áñez.
