Former governor of Venezuela’s Miranda state, Henrique Capriles, officially announced his “irrevocable” resignation from the national board of directors of the far-right opposition party Justice First (PJ), condemning meanness from Julio Borges.
Henrique Capriles is one of the founders of PJ and has been part of the political party since 2000, which fugitive Leopoldo López was part of before splitting and founding the Popular Will (VP) party.
This Monday, September 23, Capriles announced his resignation from the PJ board of directors through social media in a statement in which he made public serious complaints.
In the document, the former presidential candidate explained that he announced his decision to irrevocably resign from the political party at a meeting held on September 19.
Capriles also claimed that his decision was “based on its board’s loss of vision and the lack of internal unity, transparency, and accountability of the administrators.”
“The only thing they do is weaken the party, making its members feel they are going astray. Therefore, every day, they increase their disconnection with Venezuelans’ feelings and desires for change,” Henrique Capriles wrote on social media.
He also criticized the board of directors for making decisions without respecting the majority of its members and the rank-and-file activists.
Accusations against Julio Borges
The now-former PJ leader mentioned that the party’s decisions correspond to the agenda of a “leader” who, along with his collaborators, believes himself to be ” the lord and master of an organization.”
In this regard, Capriles referred to Julio Borges, whom he accused of perpetrating mean acts against Primero Justicia party members.
Henrique Capriles said that Borges prioritizes his personal interests, accusing him of having a history of paying for members of his party to be attacked and discredited on social media platforms.
Finally, Capriles noted that Borges has paid to discredit members of PJ and representatives of the Venezuelan far-right opposition.
Although Henrique Capriles publicized his resignation from PJ’s national board of directors, he clarified that he will continue campaigning for PJ.
Julio Borges belongs to the extremist wing of the Venezuelan far-right and is one of the greatest promoters and defenders of the international blockade against Venezuela.
This has made him one of the leading voices in favor of US-led imperialist plans against Venezuela to hand over the nation’s resources.
