This Monday, the president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, appointed the minister of industries and national production, José Félix Rivas Alvarado, as the new minister of economy.
The announcement was issued by the head of state through a message published on social media networks, where he wrote that Rivas Alvarado will have the responsibility of continuing to work to strengthen the national economy and deepen economic integration with Latin American and Caribbean nations.
According to information published by the portfolio of national industries and production on its website, Rivas Alvarado graduated from the Central University of Venezuela (UCV) with a Master’s in Economic Development Planning at the Center for Development Studies (CENDES).
Rivas Alvarado was the director of the Central Bank of Venezuela (BCV) from 2005 to 2014. He also served as permanent representative of Venezuela to the Southern Common Market (MERCOSUR) and the Association for Latin American Integration (ALADI) from 2015-2018.
