The president of Venezuela condemns the communication campaign led by the US special envoy, Elliott Abrams, to attack that South American nation.
“Elliott Abrams announced on Friday that he (the US regime) was going to finance a campaign in all available media: radio, television, social networks, against Venezuela and the Bolivarian revolution; That campaign is started by lying about and attacking Venezuela, trying to convey a reality that does not exist,” the Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro said on Tuesday.

During a broadcast on the Venezuelan State Television channel (VTV), Maduro emphasized that Washington uses international media and social networks regularly to lash out at Venezuela amid the pandemic of the new coronavirus.
He also stressed that this disinformation is supported by international news agencies and websites, which write slander and lies about the situation in Venezuela, and “they are looking for something small to happen in Venezuela to smear it, but Venezuela is in battle and we have had positive results.”
In this regard, he stated the country will prevail against the media campaigns, since it has the support of the people, and of the medical brigades, who have carried out more that 1,400,000 Covid-19 tests nationwide.
“Here is a Venezuela that is fighting, that is standing up. We are in that daily battle against the pandemic and against all things coming from the empire. As Abrams has nothing to do, he announces that they are going to finance a brutal television, radio, campaign,” stressed the head of state.

His statements came after the US special envoy indicated that this new campaign – on radio, television and Internet media – will be part of the actions taken by Washington to pressure the departure of the current president, elected by the people in May 2018.
The United States is leading a “total war” against Venezuela in order to impose a government in the Bolivarian country, led by its puppet, the Venezuelan coup deputy, Juan Guaidó. The most cruel expression of that war, according to Venezuelan authorities, is the set of unilateral coercive measures, including sanctions that directly affect millions of ordinary Venezuelans.
