On the eve of the May 25 regional and National Assembly elections, the president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, highlighted the “vital importance” of turning out to vote.
“Everyone go to vote! Get up early this Sunday to keep building another Venezuela,” the president wrote on social media on Saturday, May 24.
‘With your vote, you can say ‘I want to keep building another Venezuela, I want to continue with the necessary transformations and changes,'” he added.
Calm in Venezuela on the Eve of Regional and Legislative Elections
“This will be the 32nd election [in the country], with great importance for the future of your region,” his message continued. “Vote for peace. Every time it is necessary, there will be elections. Everyone stay tuned!”
On May 25, Venezuelans will elect 285 deputies of the National Assembly and their alternates. The elected deputies will have a constitutional term of five years from January 5, 2026 to January 5, 2031.
The governors of all 24 states and 260 legislators of the state legislative councils of will also be elected. For the first time, the legislative authorities of the state of Guayana Esequiba will be elected on May 25.
