The president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, awarded the Order of the Liberators first class to the four Venezuelan military officials against whom the US government imposed unilateral coercive measures. The president added that these unilateral coercive measures violate international law and the democratic will of Venezuelans.
The officers who received the Order of the Liberators first class were Commanding General Domingo Hernández Lárez, Major General Elio Estrada Paredes, Major General Johan Hernández Lárez, and Major General Asdrúbal Brito.
On Friday, September 13, during a public event for the supervision of works carried out by the Military Community Brigades for Education and Health (Bricomiles) in El Valle, Caracas, President Maduro called the sanctions “ridiculous and hostile,” and added that they are “like awards” for those who love Venezuela.
“The US empire believes that with its sanctions it can intimidate public officials, officers and soldiers of our glorious Bolivarian National Armed Force,” the president remarked. “But they will never be able to understand that their sanctions are like awards for the patriots who love Venezuela and who will never surrender to any blackmail, any threat.”

The head of state stressed that sanctions will not be able to stop the course of the Bolivarian Revolution or weaken the civic-military-police union in Venezuela.
“We are the incarnation of the giants of this Homeland, the heroes, the martyrs, and we must be doing something good when the desperate Americans come at us with their ridiculous sanctions,” he emphasized.
