The Venezuelan minister for interior, justice and peace, Diosdado Cabello, emphasized that behind the entire mercenary operation reported on Saturday is the ultra-right-winger María Corina Machado. Machado is also fighting with the fugitive from justice, Leopoldo López, said Cabello, for control of the money of the new mercenary operation against Venezuela.
In a special interview with the Telesur channel, Cabello said on Saturday, September 14, “They call it the ‘liberation of Venezuela;’ they are fighting over who controls it.”
Far-right Venezuelans based in the United States have launched a campaign named “Ya Casi Venezuela” (“we are almost ready, Venezuela”) where they announced that the mercenary tycoon Erik Prince will begin a massive fundraising effort to collect US 600 million dollars to organize a mercenary operation to assassinate Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and other high-ranked Chavista leaders.
Prince’s operation, according to many analysts, is directly linked with the new mercenary plot unveiled in Venezuela where US and Spanish intelligence operatives have been captured.
Cabello said, “Linking them to the opposition was not carried out on a whim. They are in talks, they thought this operation was very easy; the fact that we captured them and that we have these weapons (400 machine guns) in our possession is a hard blow for them.”
He reiterated that the governments of the US and Spain are behind the violent plans and added, “We would like the United States government to speak out and prohibit the use of its territory to conspire against another country. They are campaigning, and it is unlikely that they will touch on this issue.”
“Instead of sticking its head in the hole like an ostrich, Spain should be investigating, because what the CNI (Spanish National Intelligence Centre) is doing is something that I cannot be doing without anyone knowing about,” added Cabello
The Venezuelan minister of the interior noted that “it is important to know that what has been reported is only part of the plot. The CNI knows that we have more information.”
“The operation is being dismantled. It is being confronted,” stated Cabello. “The United States is leading this operation, and Spain was going to supply the foreign mercenaries to carry out the operation.”
He explained that in recent days, the mercenary operation has been linked to the events that occurred on July 29 and 30, when the extremist far-right opposition called for violence after being defeated in the presidential elections.
In this context, he presented a chat conversation between the detained US military officer and a criminal operator from the opposition, known by the alias “El Flaco,” who is based in Petare. On July 28, “El Flaco” stated that they were going to “kill even the dog,” referencing the wave of violence that erupted a few hours later.
Who is Wilbert Joseph Castañeda Gomez?
Diosdado Cabello reiterated his complaint about the capture of the active US military officer belonging to the elite Navy SEAL corps, Wilbert Joseph Castañeda Gómez, who participated in the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq starting in 2009. Cabello said, “He has vast experience in sabotage, explosives, urban combat, parachuting, and is an expert in mixed weapons and rifles; and he was captured here in Venezuela on September 1 in the mountainous area of Colonia Tovar.”
Cabello continued, “He entered Venezuela and immediately connected with a woman who was the partner of a notorious leader of the Aragua Train criminal gang. Since his arrival in the country, he has been making contacts with both politicians and criminal groups.” Additionally, he noted that the phones contain “contacts and conversations of very high criminal interest.”
Cabello also explained that Castañeda Gómez has a record of entering the country on two occasions, once in March and again on July 14.
The minister revealed that “this man is the one who has been directing all operations since election day (July 28).”
“It is important that our people know what we are facing and that they also trust the security agencies,” he added.
CIA and Spanish Intelligence Behind Latest Terrorist Plot in Venezuela
A tropicalized intelligence operation officer
“They went with this tropicalized operative,” Cabello said in relation to the US intentions to use a person with a Latin American phenotype.
“It is important to know that this person worked in special Navy SEAL units focused on Latin America, because they are made up of people who speak Spanish perfectly, like this person,” he explained.
The interior minister added that two citizens of Spanish origin, a Czech citizen, and an American expert in computer hacking are also in custody.
“They are part of a large plan of street terrorist actions and cyber attacks that we have already experienced,” he said.
Earlier this Saturday, during a press conference, Minister Cabello announced the capture of an active US military officer. The officer was reportedly leading a terrorist plan to generate violence and chaos in the country and to assassinate several leaders of the Bolivarian Revolution, including President Nicolás Maduro.
