The president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro stated that he is willing to engage in a “respectful dialogue, on an equal footing” with the US government, if Washington so wanted.
“If one day the US wanted a respectful dialogue, as equals, we would do it. We have done it and we will do it again without problems,” he said on Thursday, February 27, at a public event on the occasion of the 36th anniversary of the Caracazo uprising.
He emphasized that Venezuela will continue on its “path of independence, sovereignty, peace, work, development and harmony” irrespective of the White House policy towards his administration.
“If the US wants to continue on their path of fascism and violence in Venezuela and sanctions, that is up to them,” he said.

President Maduro stressed that he does not play with “hidden cards” and it is due to this that he has been able to overcome the many difficulties that he has had to face during his term in office.
“To the wise, clear words. I do not play with hidden cards, I play with the cards on the table and that is why we always win: because we play with the truth,” he remarked.
The day before, the Venezuelan government described as a “harmful and inexplicable decision” Trump’s revocation of oil licenses in force since 2022 that allowed the US oil multinational Chevron to operate in Venezuela.
Venezuelan Vice President Delcy RodrĂguez accused Washington of inflicting “damage to the US, its population and its companies in its eagerness to harm the Venezuelan people.”
