This Friday, June 20, a total of 203 Venezuelan migrants returned to their country from El Paso, Texas, United States, as part of the Return to the Homeland Program.
According to the newly appointed head of the program, Camilla Fabri, this is flight number 35. It brought 165 men, 35 women, and three minors (two boys and one girl) to Venezuela.
Many of the Venezuelans who returned on the recent flight suffered persecution in the US without committing any crime.
Once the migrants passed through immigration clearance, a protocol was activated for their comprehensive care. This includes healthcare assistance and judicial background checks, as established by the Venezuelan legal framework.
The day before, Venezuela received a flight of 252 nationals from Mexico, including 59 men, 83 women, and the rest children.
Venezuelan authorities have reported that, since February of this year, over 5,000 migrants have arrived in Venezuela from the United States.
Venezuelan President Nicolรกs Maduro has given precise instructions to receive all Venezuelan migrants who had to leave due to the effects of the illegal sanctions and the resulting economic crisis, and “were made to believe they were going to paradise and ended up in the American nightmare,” in contraposition to the so-called “American Dream.”
The Venezuelan government thus reaffirms its social commitment “to all Venezuelan citizens who return to the country to reintegrate into the social and economic development of the homeland, as well as for the reunification of families,” as explained by the Return to the Homeland Program authorities.
