The foreign minister for Venezuela, Yván Gil, has informed the diplomatic corps accredited to Caracas that Venezuela has over 635 confirmations to date of international observers interested in witnessing the presidential electoral process, scheduled for July 28.
This Wednesday, July 10, Gil held a meeting with the diplomatic corps at Casa Amarilla, the headquarters of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in Caracas, discussing the solid, widely participatory, and exemplary democracy of Venezuela, where the people of Venezuela being the decision-making center of the nation was emphasized. “Our electoral system has been built to provide the greatest possible transparency,” he stated.

The foreign minister said that the United Nations panel of electoral experts had arrived in Venezuela on Tuesday to begin to monitor the electoral process, and noted that the Carter Center, the African Union, CEELA, and groups from over 65 nations have been invited.
“We are happy to open ourselves to the world so that they can see what will happen in Venezuela,” said Gil, emphasizing that Venezuela has one of the best electoral systems in the world.
He highlighted the security and transparency of the vote of Venezuelans, explaining that it has “an automated system, where both the vote and the counting are done digitally, without the subjectivity of the manipulation of minutes,” adding that “it is an auditable system in all its phases, and the entire process is absolutely transparent. In addition, there is an electronic count done by the machine and manually by the voting poll members as well.”

The top diplomat further noted that the electoral campaign of the ten presidential candidates has been carried out peacefully and with complete normality. “The candidates have already made their proposals, which some have submitted through the National Electoral Council, as is appropriate, while others have done so through media.”
Gil also condemned the plans put forward by far-right groups in Venezuela to destabilize the electoral process. He explained that the so-called Self-Defense Forces Conquistadoras de la Sierra (Colombia) had plans to attack the country’s electrical infrastructure and to target Nicolás Maduro, acting in the event he is re-elected and seeking to infiltrate the streets to sow chaos.
