The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, through a communique issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, congratulated the people of Belize for a successful election day in which they elected John Briceño, of the United Popular Party (PUP). President Maduro also ratified Venezuela willingness to continue on the path towards a relationship of friendship and bilateral cooperation.
“Venezuela praises the civic demonstration of the Belizeans, during said electoral suffrage, amid complex adversities such as COVID-19, to which are added the heavy rains and floods that hit the Caribbean region, which failed to stop the demonstration of the popular will in this sovereign exercise,” states part of the communique.

The PUP won the parliamentary elections held last Wednesday, so its leader, John Briceño, becomes the new prime minister of Belize, according to preliminary results, Telesur reported, quoting AVN.

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, on behalf of the Venezuelan People and Government, expresses his congratulations to the People of Belize, for the successful holding of the general elections on Wednesday, November 11th, 2020, where John Briceño was elected as Prime Minister.
Venezuela praises the civic demonstration of the Belizeans, during the polls, in the midst of complex adversities such as COVID-19, in addition to the heavy rains and flooding that hit the Caribbean region, which did not manage stop the manifestation of the popular will in this sovereign exercise.
The Bolivarian Government of Venezuela celebrates together with the Belizean people and expresses its intention to continue paving the way towards a relationship of friendship and cooperation with the sisterly nation of Belize, in order to promote and consolidate the well-being and stability of our peoples.
