Caracas (OrinocoTribune.com)—The president of Venezuela’s National Electoral Council (CNE), Elvis Amoroso, has announced that mayoral and municipal council elections are going to be held on Sunday, July 27, 2025.
In a brief press conference held at the CNE headquarters this Wednesday, June 4, Amoroso outlined the full electoral schedule, confirming the campaign period will run from July 11 to 24.
He also reiterated that the planned Popular Consultation to select Communal Youth Projects will occur the same day.
Amoroso explained that the final electoral registry, which will be approved June 9, will be used for these coming elections. Nominations will be submitted and accepted June 9-13, with campaigning scheduled for July 11-24, “thus establishing the electoral schedule for selecting mayors and municipal councilors.”
He further reported that indigenous municipal representative elections will be on a special schedule, built around the traditions of the indigenous peoples of Venezuela:
• Nomination period: June 9-13
• Voter registry cutoff: June 23
• Final registry approval: June 23
• Campaigning: July 11-24
• General assembly elections: August 3
Amoroso announced that the communal youth projects will be selected through a July 27 national consultation, and urged for provisions of technical support to the Ministry for Communes, Social Movements, and Urban Agriculture, as well as the Ministry for Youth.

However, Amoroso failed to address the lack of detailed results for the May 25 parliamentary and regional elections. Despite two bulletins, comprehensive results have not been published on the CNE website. The website has surprisingly remained offline since July 28, 2024.
Venezuelans have enjoyed decades of electoral transparency that once made the system world-renowned. However, since the July 28, 2025 presidential elections, CNE authorities, led by Elvis Amoroso, have not released fully detailed results, creating opacity around the once-respected institution and drawing criticism from both opposition and Chavista analysts.
