The vice president of Venezuela and minister of Hydrocarbons, Delcy Rodríguez, held a meeting with her counterparts from DR Congo, Bruno Jean-Richard, and Nigeria, Heineken Lokpobiri, to review the strategic areas of energy cooperation.
In Vienna, Austria, the Venezuelan delegation headed by Rodríguez, met with the Congolese authorities to discuss various bilateral issues as well as the Venezuela-Congo Joint Cooperation in the field of hydrocarbons and forest resources.
Similarly, Rodríguez met with her Nigerian counterpart for outlining cooperation plans between the two countries in the energy sector. The two countries have signed 21 agreements in communication and information, defense, fight against money laundering, air services, gas production, and other matters.
Venezuela, DR Congo, and Nigeria are all members of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).

Venezuela and APPO review joint alliances
The Venezuelan vice president also met with the secretary of the African Petroleum Producers Organization (APPO), Omar Farouk Ibrahim, to review joint alliances and evaluate the strengthening of cooperation in the energy field. Both parties reiterated their commitment to energy development and complementarity for the benefit of their peoples.
They also spoke about promoting joint initiatives for the creation of a fair, equitable and multipolar world. In 2021, Venezuela became the first non-African country to join the APPO as an observer, and since then, it has consolidated a solid bilateral friendship with this important international organization.
Rodríguez also held a meeting with the president of the African Energy Chamber, NJ Ayuk, in order to explore areas of common interest in the energy field, and also discussed the importance of promoting policies to reduce energy poverty.
