January 11, 2019

After being invested as constitutional president of Venezuela by the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ), Nicolás Maduro was recognized this Thursday by the Bolivarian National Armed Force (FANB) ) as legitimate representative and therefore commander-in-chief of the institution, in addition to ratifying the head of state his loyalty and subordination in his term that begins in 2019 and concludes in 2025.

In an activity, held in the Honor Court of the Military Academy in Fort Tiuna, attended by representatives of the Public Powers, members of the Executive Cabinet, officers of the High Military Command and personalities of several countries invited to the act of swearing in the TSJ, a commission led by the Minister for Defense, General In Chief Vladimir Padrino López, delivered Thursday the Wisdom Saber Rafael Urdaneta to Nicolás Maduro, as Commander in Chief of the military body and President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

.

“On behalf of the entire Bolivarian National Armed Forces, from our hands to your hands, as Commander in Chief, we deliver you a symbol that you have rescued, the replica of the saber of the General in Chief Rafael Urdaneta, who was in the hands of the Liberator Simón Bolívar in Carabobo, is the saber of loyalty (…) for that reason it deserves to take it as a soldier leader and as a Bolivarian, “said Padrino López.

On the national Radio and Television broadcast, the Venezuelan Head of State received the sword replica from the military component, as a symbol of honor and loyalty. “I receive this sword as a great commitment to carry this sword with dignity and with it to end both interventionism and imperial threat, with the example of Bolivar, everything is possible,” said Maduro.

In addition, he praised the Fanb’s fidelity to the country and recognized it as an example of loyalty not only to the people but also to the Bolivarian Constitution.

During the ceremony the customary Parade of Honor was performed to the beat of the Marcial Band with the firm step of the young alféreces and midshipmen. The march continued with the Command of the Parade on the part of the general of division Felix Osorio, Dean of the Military University of Venezuela.

As guarantors of the independence and sovereignty of the nation and integrity of the geographical space, the cadets made their presence at the academies of the Bolivarian Army, Bolivarian Army, Bolivarian Military Aviation and Bolivarian National Guard, components that paid tribute to the President.

“We must increase the military capacity”

Maduro said that “the time has come to deepen Venezuela’s military revolution and the revolution that implies the application of the concept, doctrine, morality and weapon system in practice.” The president said that one of the key factors during the next six years of his mandate will be the work of the FANB and for that reason he considered it preponderant to boost his operative capacity.

“In these 6 years we have to increase the military capacity of our FANB and we must maintain an update of the weapons system,” he said before more than 4,000 military personnel in training.

He added that, within the framework of the strengthening of the civic-military union, there will pay special interest in the Venezuelan militia.

“On April 13, the day of the Bolivarian National Militia, we will reach 2 million militiamen throughout the country,” he said.

Prior to the address to the troop personnel, the President received the institutional message of support in the voice of the Minister of Defense, Vladimir Padrino López.

“In martial formation, the troops deployed in the eight Strategic Integral Defense Regions we accept without hesitation your unique leadership and indisputable leadership and we recognize you as our Commander in Chief,” exclaimed the high official.

“I accept from my heart the sacred oath they have made of loyalty, discipline, subordination,” the President replied.

In recognition of his inauguration as commander-in-chief, the FANB delivered to the head of state a replica of the saber of wisdom of the general in chief Rafael Urdaneta.

“On behalf of the entire Bolivarian National Armed Forces, from our hands to your hands, as Commander in Chief, we deliver you a symbol that you have rescued, the replica of the saber of the General in Chief Rafael Urdaneta, who was in the hands of the Liberator Simón Bolívar in Carabobo, is the saber of loyalty (…) for that reason it deserves to take it as a soldier leader and as a Bolivarian, “said Minister Padrino López.

The president expressed his satisfaction for the honor granted by the military institution, to which he also swore not to fail and be always at his service. “I receive it with a lot of love because I know it is an example of loyalty and the FANB is an example of loyalty to the Homeland, people, Constitution and the Bolivarian Revolution,” he said.
