The consulates of Venezuela in the cities of Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal will stop providing services temporarily, in response to the temporary closure of the Embassy of Canada in Venezuela, as outlined in a statement issued by the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry.
Through this communiquĂ© that was released today, the government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela affirms that “the unsuspected anti-diplomatic actions of Ottawa were expressed through measures such as the non-renewal of credentials or issuance of new diplomatic visas for Venezuelan officials, as well as in their support for the perverse financial blockade of Washington against Venezuela. ”
The document clarifies that “all functions of Venezuelan diplomacy in Canada will be concentrated in the headquarters of its Embassy in Ottawa.” The Venezuelan response is framed under the principle of reciprocity.

Also, the document indicates that these hostile actions against Venezuela are subordinated to the aggression that the United States government undertakes against the South American country.
The communique:
The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela denounces the decision of the Government of Canada to temporarily close its Embassy in Caracas, far from being an administrative matter, is a political decision that reflects the continued hostility of that government towards Venezuela, in disciplined subordination to the aggression of the Trump Administration against the Venezuelan people and its democratic institutions.

The unsuspected anti-diplomatic actions of Ottawa were expressed through measures such as the non-renewal of credentials or issuance of new diplomatic visas for Venezuelan officials, as well as in their support for the perverse financial blockade of Washington against Venezuela. Consequently, the Bolivarian Government has acted strictly in accordance with the principle of reciprocity and will maintain its firm decisions until the Canadian authorities recover diplomatic synderesis and respect for international public law.
In this regard, the Bolivarian Government of Venezuela announces that it will temporarily cease to provide services at the general consulates in Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal. All the functions of the Venezuelan diplomacy in Canada will be concentrated in the headquarters of its Embassy in Ottawa.
Venezuela hopes that Canada will soon recover sovereignty over its foreign policy to foster a better climate for dialogue and mutual respect for the benefit of both peoples. Until then, the Bolivarian Government of Venezuela will defend, through diplomatic and legal channels, the dignity and sovereignty of the Venezuelan people.
