Venezuelan Minister for Communes and Social Movements Ángel Prado stated that the people will elect leaders who possess moral integrity and principles for positions of communal justice of the peace.
In an interview with Venezolana de Televisión (VTV), Minister Prado highlighted that on Thursday, December 5, the candidates met with the residents of their communal circuits to present their candidacies.
Over 15,000 justices and their 15,000 alternates will be elected on December 15.
“We already have the executive power in the communes and the work committees. We also have electoral power and legislative power. Now, we will have the judicial power in the communes, and that is what the people want and demand.”

Judicial elections in 4,861 communal circuits and Indigenous communities
Minister Prado reported that on Wednesday, December 4, “we held simultaneous assemblies in over 4,000 communes. We are already in an electoral campaign. Elections will be held in 4,861 communal circuits. There are also Indigenous communities where they have their own customs, traditions, and ways of administering justice. There are 43,544 communal councils associated with this electoral process.”
On Wednesday, the National Electoral Commission for Justices of Peace announced the start of the campaign to elect communal justices of peace. The campaign will run until December 13.
Moreover, Minister Prado praised the fact that 70% of Venezuela’s 2025 budget will be allocated to financing the communes and the communal projects that will focus on solving the accumulated problems, including those resulting from the economic war by the United States against the people of Venezuela.
