Community councils across Venezuela held mass assemblies on Sunday, to hear community project proposals from Venezuelan youth. These projects, fundamental to local development, will be put to a vote in the Popular Consultation scheduled for July 27, according to Youth Minister Sergio Lotartaro.
During a telephone interview with local news outlets, the minister emphasized that more than 20,000 youth assemblies have taken place nationwide. This initiative, in his view, represents a tangible manifestation of participatory democracy promoted by the Bolivarian Revolution.

“There is no more democratic nation, and today, our youth are witnessing this in every corner,” Lotartaro stated. The enthusiasm and active participation of young people have exceeded all expectations.
The youth minister praised the overwhelming turnout of young people who, he noted, have undertaken the task of forging a renewed map of social and territorial priorities in their communities. This consultation process not only seeks to identify urgent needs but also to empower youth in decision-making. Young people have become active protagonists of social transformation, contributing innovative ideas and concrete solutions to community challenges.
Lotartaro reaffirmed that this democratic process strengthens Venezuelan youth by giving them input on crucial community matters while setting a historical precedent for future generations. The active participation of young people today will establish foundations for a more engaged citizenry tomorrow. The impact of these assemblies extends beyond the local level, projecting a model of participatory governance nationally.
