The National Assembly of Venezuela will declare as “persona non grata” former presidents Tuto Quiroga of Bolivia and Vicente Fox and Felipe Calderón of Mexico, who have openly announced their intention to enter Venezuela without proper permits, announced the president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez.
“In the first ordinary session of the National Assembly, to be held on Tuesday, we will ask for this gang of insolent, unspeakable beings to be declared persona non grata,” Rodríguez said on Sunday, January 5, during the installation ceremony of the 2025-2026 session of the National Assembly. “If a foreigner enters the country without proper authorization from an institution duly qualified to do so, it can be considered an act of invasion, and any foreigner who tries to enter the territory of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela illegally will be treated as an invader.”
He also emphasized that Venezuela absolutely respects international law, so no foreign government official or individual should be able to enter a country without having the necessary permits.
“Any unauthorized foreigner who enters Venezuela will be judged as an invader,” he emphasized, referring to far-right politicians who are planing to disrupt President Nicolás Maduro’s inauguration ceremony scheduled for January 10.
During the first session of the new National Assembly on Sunday, PSUV Deputy Jorge Rodríguez was elected as the president of the legislature, Deputy Pedro Infante as the first vice president, and Deputy América Pérez as the second vice president. María Alejandra Hernández and José Omar Molina were elected to the positions of secretary and undersecretary of the parliament.
Arrest of Edmundo González
Jorge Rodríguez further stated that the National Assembly will request the Attorney General’s Office to immediately arrest former presidential candidate Edmundo González if he were to enter Venezuela.
“That unworthy being, supported by his masters in the North, has been saying a series of nonsense, including that he will return to the territory of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela,” he said. “We are obliged to assist the Office of the Attorney General of the Republic and that is why each deputy who defends the country, will request, in case he touches a foot in our territory, his immediate arrest for violating the Liberator Simón Bolívar Organic Law, for usurpation of functions, treason, and money laundering.”

Political dialogue
Jorge Rodríguez stressed that the time has come for extremism to be isolated in Venezuela. “The time has come for all of us to unite, regardless of our political tendency, and to come to an agreement,” he said.
He added that peace has prevailed in the country because President Maduro’s Administration has defended political dialogue as a mechanism to resolve differences and difficulties.
“It is dangerous to try to dialogue with people who have a knife in one hand because they are foreign agents, because they are violent, because they seek the dissolution of the republic. We do not want to discuss with them, we are not going to discuss with them, we have a constitution and laws to apply against them,” he said, emphasizing that political dialogue must be conditioned by the defense of peace, the country, its institutions, and democracy.
