A total of 316 Venezuelans from Mexico returned to Venezuela this Thursday, April 24, on a Conviasa flight as part of the Vuelta a la Patria program.
The citizens, including 76 men, 100 women, and 142 children, will undergo the corresponding protocols regarding health, psychological support, migration, and criminal background check, among others, as requested by President Nicolás Maduro and Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello.
Each migrant was given the standard interview, followed by a thorough review of their cases, and escorted to their respective homes by security agencies, as reported by Venezuelan authorities.
This is the fifteenth plane to arrive on Venezuelan soil as part of the 2018 launched Return to the Homeland program, which seeks to return back home for free Venezuelan migrants from around the world.
Since last February of this year, with the resumption of the program, more than 3,000 fellow Venezuelans have returned to the country as part of the Venezuelan government’s efforts.
This new arrival reaffirms the Venezuelan state’s commitment to defending the human rights of its people, regardless of borders or international pressure.
Tren de Aragua smear campaign
On Wednesday, Venezuelan Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello informed that none of the 174 Venezuelans who arrived on Wednesday, on a previous flight, belonged to the extinct Tren de Aragua gang. He reiterated that this pernicious narrative seeks to discredit both the Venezuelan people and the Chavista government before the international community.
“This Wednesday, 174 compatriots returned, 145 men and 29 women. Once again, the issue of the defunct Tren de Aragua is crumbling like a house of cards,” said Cabello during his weekly program Con el Mazo Dando.
The top official clarified that among those who arrived, one person was wanted for assault, another citizen for physical violence, another for aggravated robbery, and another with a record of homicide. He emphasized that those being requested by the Judiciary will face the Judicial System, but none had any connection to the infamous criminal group now extinct.
“That’s what we have—there is no Tren de Aragua; the United States continues to deceive the world. They’ve realized that Tren de Aragua exists only in their imaginations, in their own narratives,” said Cabello.
