Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodríguez strongly denounced Reuters’ false reports about PDVSA and Chevron. Rodríguez also asserted that the Venezuelan oil company is maintaining its commitments to the US company, despite the sanctions imposed by the Donald Trump administration.
“Reuters is blatantly lying again. PDVSA maintains its commitments to Chevron as stipulated in its contracts and in accordance with the country’s laws,” the oil minister wrote on Wednesday, April 23.
She clarified that the US oil company Chevron “is the victim of illegal sanctions by the US government. We have evidence in this regard.”
Rodríguez’s statements follow a Reuters report that PDVSA diverted some shipments to other markets due to restrictions imposed by the US. The news agency also cited apparent “payment uncertainty as a factor behind this decision.”
“Apparently, Reuters makes lies its daily routine and disqualifies itself from addressing energy issues in Venezuela. And in the world as well,” she noted.
While emphasizing that Venezuela will “continue on its path to recovery despite the criminal blockades and mediocre media falsifications.”
Venezuela Condemns False Claims About Oil Production From Reuters
In early April, the Venezuelan vice president also rejected the media outlet’s reports, which claimed that Venezuelan crude oil and fuel exports had fallen 11.5% in March compared to the previous month.
At the time, Rodríguez demanded that the media company rectify its position and cease its campaign of lies against PDVSA. She also affirmed that oil production is normal and on schedule.
