Venezuela repudiated the interventionist statements issued by the governments of the United States, Argentina, Costa Rica, Chile, Ecuador, Guatemala, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, the Dominican Republic, and Uruguay, which violate international law, committing an unacceptable act of interference in Venezuela’s internal affairs.
In a statement published this Friday, August 23, by the foreign affairs minister of Venezuela, Yván Gil, stated that these countries’ pronouncements aim to emulate the “nefarious and failed Lima group.”
The Venezuelan statement highlighted that with their interventionist actions, the referred governments endorse and become accomplices of the violent hired criminals who attacked healthcare centers, schools, universities, public transport, and national monuments, leaving a trail of death and destruction.
“Venezuela demands absolute respect for its sovereignty and independence won by intense struggles against the most hostile empires that attempt to get their hands on natural resources that do not belong to them and are trying to impose today, once again, a policy of regime change typical of the coups d’état that the US empire has been promoting in Latin America and the Caribbean for more than 100 years,” the statement reads.

The creation of a new Lima Group and a new Guaidó is unacceptable!
The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela repudiates, in the strongest terms, the rude and insolent statement of the governments of Argentina, Costa Rica, Chile, Ecuador, United States, Guatemala, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Dominican Republic, and Uruguay that, emulating the ill-fated, failed, and defeated Lima Group, are trying to continue violating international law by committing an unacceptable act of interference in matters that only concern Venezuelans.
Venezuela demands absolute respect for its sovereignty and independence, won through intense struggles against the most hostile empires that intend to get their hands on natural resources that do not belong to them, and today are trying to impose once again a policy of regime change typical of the coup d’états that the US empire has been promoting for over 100 years in Latin America and the Caribbean.
These governments, with their position, endorse and become accomplices of the violent criminals who attacked healthcare centers, schools, universities, public transport, and national monuments, leaving a trail of people murdered and wounded by transnational criminal gangs hired for that purpose.
Just as the people of Simón Bolívar and Hugo Chávez pulverized the attacks of the defunct Lima Group and its attempt to impose a puppet government in the past through the failed adventure of Juan Guaidó, on this occasion, they will pulverize each and every one of the actions that try to impose another false government on the Venezuelan people.
History has demonstrated that the destiny that awaits those who dare to make an attempt against the dignity of the Venezuelan people is nothing but contempt and international shame, as has been immortalized in the popular saying: one who messes with Venezuela fails!
Caracas, August 23, 2024
On Friday, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro also condemned the interventionist statements of some governments of the region, adding that these countries “are trying to revitalize and refound the Lima Group.”
“These right-wing governments that intend to revitalize and refound the Lima Group have come out to defend criminals, claiming that there is political persecution,” he said during an official event at the Metrobus workshop in La Paz, Caracas. “What do you do with people who burn and destroy a subway station? Are they rewarded?”
“The people want justice, and there will be justice against all those who are responsible for the criminal violence in Venezuela on July 29, 30, and 31,” President Maduro emphasized.
