Venezuela strongly condemned the imposition of new unilateral, illegitimate and illegal coercive measures by the US government against 16 Venezuelan government and judicial officials including the president of the Supreme Court of Justice.
In a statement issued on Thursday, September 12, the Venezuelan Foreign Affairs Ministry underlined that these measures are illegitimate and demonstrate that the government of the United States despises international law, the self-determination of the peoples, and the democratic will of Venezuelans.
It added that this action is “a rude act that seeks to ingratiate itself with a political class that has resorted to fascist and violent practices to unsuccessfully overthrow the Bolivarian democracy.”

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela condemns, in the strongest terms, the new crime of aggression committed by the government of the United States of America against Venezuela by imposing unilateral, illegitimate and illegal coercive measures on a group of State officials, demonstrating once again its total disregard for international law, the self-determination of peoples, and the democratic will of Venezuelans, in a rude act that seeks to ingratiate itself with a political class that has resorted to fascist and violent practices to overthrow, unsuccessfully, Bolivarian democracy.
The erroneously named “sanctions,” which have been shamefully promoted by the fascist extreme right, violate the agreements signed in Qatar and seek to impose on an entire country and its institutions the policies of “regime change” as part of the Monroe Doctrine. Little can be expected from the most hostile and bloodthirsty power humanity has ever known, the one responsible for millions of deaths around the world with genocidal partners and a record of indifference to the needs of its own citizens.
The government of the United States will once again walk the path of failure and will be defeated by the dignity of Venezuela, which will continue to reach new achievements, strengthen its economy, consolidate its participatory and protagonist democratic process and, above all, strengthen its ties with other nations of the world that do understand diplomacy, respect and cooperation for mutual benefit.
The multicentric and pluripolar world of which Commander Hugo Chávez spoke about has become a reality and there will be no aggression and threat that will take away the leading role from Bolivar’s homeland, while the practices of imperialism succumb to its systemic moral misery.
The government of the aggressor State is isolating itself in its frustration, while Venezuela is growing and winning. This attack against the people who, day after day, are defending the sovereignty and peace of the nation only ratifies their willingness to sacrifice and deserves recognition. The aggressor forgets that Liberator SimĂłn BolĂvar made clear the horizon to follow when he declared: “He who abandons everything to be useful to his Homeland, loses nothing and gains as much as he consecrates.”
