Venezuelan minister for the Interior, Justice, and Peace, Diosdado Cabello, stated at a press conference that the “Cartel of the Suns” is an “invention” of the right and the United States.
“Whenever someone annoys the empire, the US makes them the head of that cartel,” he said, and added that the largest cartel in the world operates in the United States, referring to the DEA.
“The Cartel of the Suns is a lie, a big lie … It is an invention. I don’t know for how long they have been inventing that and in that time it has had like 300 bosses,” he said.

Cabello made these statements during a press conference on Thursday, August 7, where he reported on the arrest of 13 individuals for their involvement in planning a terrorist plot in the vicinity of Plaza Venezuela, Caracas, last Sunday.
During the press conference, the minister highlighted that the far-right sectors allied with drug trafficking and criminal gangs are trying to provoke violence in the country because “they believe it will bring about regime change in our country, ousting of President Nicolás Maduro, and with President Maduro’s ousting, what they call the end of the Bolivarian Revolution.”
