The president of Venezuela, NicolĂĄs Maduro, announced the integration of the Bolivarian National Militia with the communes so that the militia is present in the 5,336 communal circuits and can exercise the comprehensive defense of the nation.
The president made this declaration at an event in the 23 de Enero parish in Caracas on Thursday, August 21, with the aim of ensuring peace, security, national unity, territorial integrity, and national sovereignty of Venezuela. This comes about amid a US naval deployment in the Caribbean and threats of invasion against Venezuela.
More than 2,000 soldiers, who are part of the Bolivarian National Militia (MNB), Bolivarian National Police (PNB), and the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB), as well as commune members, and workers of the state oil corporation PetrĂłleos de Venezuela (PDVSA) the National Electric Corporation (CORPOELEC) were present at the event.
“I truly congratulate all of you. All our philosophy, our Bolivarian, revolutionary, and anti-imperialist military doctrine has been forged in 500 years of resistance and struggle,” the president expressed.
He highlighted that the nation has a solid doctrine, based on the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela which contains “the fundamental concepts of the national defense doctrine.”

He added that it incorporates the Bolivarian Militia as a component of the FANB, alongside the Army and the Navy, for the defense of Venezuela.
He emphasized that the integration of the Militia into the Peace Quadrants (communes) is designed to guarantee the stability of the nation under any circumstances.
He added that the system has been built “not for a specific situation, but for any situation that tests us.”
The event was attended by the First Lady and National Assembly Deputy Cilia Flores, Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino LĂłpez, the Strategic Operational Commander of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces, Major General Domingo HernĂĄndez LĂĄrez, the General Commander of the Bolivarian Militia, Mayor General Orlando Romero BolĂvar, the Minister of the Communes Ăngel Prado, and the mayor of Caracas, Admiral Carmen MelĂ©ndez.
