The latest Monitor País poll carried out by the Venezuelan polling firm Hinterlaces for the month of October 2024 showed that the majority of Venezuelans are of the opinion that politicians who called for sanctions and promoted the theft of Venezuelan assets should face legal action.
In response to the question: should political leaders who called for sanctions against the country, blockades and freezing of Venezuela’s assets abroad be tried for treason?, 63% answered in the affirmative.

The survey was conducted in households across the country, 18% of strata A, B and C and 82% of strata D and E in 1,200 interviews.
Foreign military intervention
The Hinterlaces survey also showed that 85% of those consulted “agree with prosecuting for treason those who have called for a foreign military intervention against Venezuela to overthrow President Nicolás Maduro.”
On November 19, Venezuela condemned the BOLIVAR Act approved by the United States House of Representatives that intends to strengthen the sanctions regime against the country, at the same time shamelessly using the name of Venezuela’s founding father Simón Bolívar, a great anti-imperialist leader who alerted about the imperialist nature of the US government in the early 19th century.
In a statement published by the Venezuelan Foreign Affairs Ministry, the government stated that “this instrument [the BOLIVAR Act] seeks to destroy any possibility of economic relationship and cooperation between Venezuela and the United States.” The Venezuelan authorities added that this new US aggression will fail just like the previous ones.
