This Monday 22.2 tons of humanitarian technical aid landed in Venezuela from China and Russia to combat Covid-19, the Minister of the Popular Power for Health, Carlos Alvarado informed, who received the fourth shipment at the Simón Bolívar International Airport serving Caracas. Alvarado, who along with Aristóbulo Istúriz, Vice President for Social Issues, received this shipment, stressed that it is the fourth arrival in a joint effort with the United Nations System, the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and the World Health Organization (WHO).
“It is more than 20 tons of personal protective equipment, containing more than 1,500,000 face masks, full face masks for all health personnel in the country, gowns, protective glasses, and they will be immediately distributed throughout the National Health System and the Comprehensive Social Care Posts (PASI),” added the Minister of Health.
He stressed that this aid will be distributed to staff in the National Public Health System, with the accompaniment of PAHO, especially on the border areas in the states of Zulia, Táchira, Apure and Bolívar, where important sanitary centers are concentrated, as well as in Caracas, Miranda and Aragua state.
Aristóbulo Istúriz, pointed out that in the midst of the brutal economic war, criminal and coercive and US unilateral measures, illegal and in violation of International Law in the face of the scourge of the pandemic, Venezuela is being vilely attacked.
“The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, has made extraordinary efforts, where he develops a diplomacy of peace to guarantee social protection for the people, through agreements, multilateral and bilateral agreements with international organizations, to break the isolation of Venezuela,” he said.
