The Venezuelan far-right opposition’s new scam, in its untiring intention to overthrow the government by illegal and criminal means, already seems to be crumbling. The latest coup plot, Ya Casi Venezuela, appeared out of nowhere, spearheaded by the US mercenary Erik Prince, considered by the extreme-right opposition as its new superhero. Some opposition figures joined him, such as the now-repentent fugitive, IvĂĄn Simonovis, wanted by the Venezuelan judiciary.
Through his social media accounts, Simonovis clarified that he is not involved in this new scam that intends to raise money to hire an army to wipe out the Chavistas. Nevertheless, a few weeks ago, Simonovis used the same social media platforms to encourage the Venezuelan âdiasporaâ to contribute to this mercenary-led coup plan.
âIn this initiative I am just another spectator,â he said in his latest social media posts. Changing his initial discourse, he left the decision to economically support mercenary boss Prince in the hands of the “opposition leaders.” Prince has requested donations in cryptocurrencies and dollars to finance what he calls the “fight for freedom in Venezuela.”
Venezuela Arrests Another US Citizen in Alleged Mercenary Plot
In view of Simonovis’ drastic change of opinion, the first vice-president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello, commented during his television program, Con El Mazo Dando, that the opposition only wants money, and to achieve this objective, opposition operatives use psychological terrorism to get resources and steal them.
âThey end up hating each other, and, as everything is a matter of money, they start to get rid of each other; surely they got something out of Simonovis who is now backing down,” Cabello said. He suggested that Simonovis’ withdrawal from this terrorist plot may be purely due to economic reasons.
He called out Simonovis for joining destabilization attempts such as Ya Casi Venezuela. He further remarked that joining such “crusades” make opposition operatives feel âstrong and supportedâ for fraternizing with US war mongers and going on rampages with mercenaries, threatening the country from abroad.
