The National Assembly of Venezuela authorized the appointment of Remigio Ceballos as the new extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the People’s Republic of China.
On Thursday, September 19, during the plenary session of the National Assembly, the proposal of the Permanent Commission for Foreign Policy, Sovereignty and Integration was unanimously approved after Deputy DesirĂ©e Santos Amaral presented the arguments on the merits supporting Ceballos’ appointment as the new ambassador to China.
The deputy highlighted that until recently the nominee, Ceballos, served as the Minister of Internal Relations, Justice and Peace. He was also commander of the Strategic Operational Command of the Bolivarian National Armed Force, and deputy minister for Planning and Development of the Ministry of Defense. He has a doctorate and a post doctorate in national security.
Since 2022, the Venezuelan embassy in China has been in the charge of another military officer, Giuseppe Yoffreda Yorio, who was previously the Venezuelan ambassador in Qatar. Before him, the post was held by former Minister of Tourism and former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Félix Plasencia, who is now the head of the Venezuelan Mission in the United Kingdom.

The Order of the Serbian Flag is a distinction for exceptional merits in the development and strengthening of relations of friendship and cooperation with the Republic of Serbia.
