The National Assembly of Venezuela approved the Draft Resolution in Repudiation of the gross interference in the internal affairs of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela by the European Parliament.
During the plenary session of Thursday, September 19, Deputy Blanca Eekhout presented the Draft Resolution in Repudiation of the gross interference in the internal affairs of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela by some far-right members of the European Parliament (MEPs).
The first vice-president of the National Assembly, Pedro Infante, expressed his support for the resolution and condemned fascism and racial supremacy.
He reiterated that the European Parliament should not interfere in Venezuela’s internal affairs.
Infante called the European Union “conspirators” and added that the Venezuelan authorities will never again invite the EU to any election held in Venezuela.
“Venezuela’s rights must be respected,” he said.
Foreign Minister Yván Gil to Spain: Venezuela Will Not Tolerate Aggression and Interference
Deputy JosĂ© Brito, from the opposition, supported the resolution, stating that Venezuela’s problems will be solved by Venezuelans only
Brito stressed that Venezuela is a sovereign country and should be respected.
He added that the former presidential candidate of the extreme right, Edmundo González, fled to Spain to distance himself from the extremist groups led by far-right opposition politician MarĂa Corina Machado.
The repudiation resolution arose after the Spanish Congress approved last week a non-binding proposal urging the Spanish government to recognize Edmundo González as the winner of the Venezuelan presidential elections of July 28.
Following this interventionist act by the Spanish Congress, the president of the Venezuelan National Assembly, Jorge RodrĂguez, requested that the Venezuelan government break diplomatic, economic, and consular relations with Spain.
At that time, RodrĂguez stated that it was inconceivable that the Spanish Congress was repeating the mistake it had committed with the so-called interim government of Juan GuaidĂł.
