Venezuela and Iran signed three letters of intent on telecommunications in order to strengthen strategic commercial ties between the two countries. The letters of intent, also known as preliminary commitments, were signed on Saturday, September 21, during the 2nd International Telecommunications Fair (FITELVEN) 2024 held in Caracas, Venezuela.
The first document was signed between the Socialist Corporation of Telecommunications and Postal Services (Corpostel), the National Telephone Company of Venezuela (CANTV), and the Modern Data Center Development Company (MDC) of Iran to install a fiber optic factory in Venezuela.
The second letter of commercial intent presented a proposal for production in the Special Economic Zone of the state of La Guaira, which will facilitate the conditions for the installation of the fiber optic factory.
The third letter was signed between CANTV and MDC with the aim of offering TWDN Decal TV transport solutions.
With these agreements, Venezuela and Iran strengthen the telecommunications sector and intend to generate new pragmatic models aimed at the development of their national economies.
For Venezuela, the letters were signed by Jorge Márquez, minister of Public Works and Services; Jesús Aldana, president of CANTV; José Alejandro Terán, governor of La Guaira state, while for the Islamic Republic of Iran, Alí Llampur, general manager of MDC, signed the letters.
Iran has become one of Venezuela’s principal strategic allies in recent years, strengthening different areas and launching agreements based on the principles of mutual cooperation and shared economic growth.
