Venezuela Continues Humanitarian Shipments of Oxygen to Brazil (COVID-19)
Monday, February 15, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza reported that Venezuela sent two new trucks loaded with oxygen to Brazil to continue helping its neighboring country to combat the COVID-19 health crisis in the states of Roraima and Amazonas.
“From the border with Brazil, our governor (of the border state Bolívar) Justo Noguera Pietri, delivers to Brazilian authorities two new tanker trucks of oxygen to attend to the COVID-19 health crisis in the states of Roraima and Amazonas,” Foreign Minister Arreaza posted on Twitter.
The Foreign Minister accompanied the message with a video in which trucks are seen passing through the border between the two countries, known as La Linea, near Santa Elena de Uairén, Bolívar State.

Brazil added 528 new coronavirus deaths in the last 24 hours. The country’s total number of fatalities now stands at 239,773, while the number of infected is close to 10 million, the Brazilian Government reported on Monday.
Brazil remains one of the countries hardest hit by the pandemic, alongside the United States and India, at a time when experts warn that the health crisis could worsen in the coming weeks, amid the Carnival holiday that began this past Friday and runs until Wednesday.
On January 14, Arreaza himself reported that Venezuela would keep supplying to Brazil “the necessary oxygen to attend to the health emergency” caused by Covid-19 and the terrible handling of the pandemic by Brazilian authorities.

On at least three other occasions, the Venezuelan government reported on shipments of tanker trucks carrying oxygen to Brazil to mitigate the healthcare collapse that began last January in the states of Amazonas and Roraima.
Meanwhile in Venezuela, a country heavily affected by US sanctions, after almost twelve months of the pandemic authorities have reported only 1,279 deaths, and 133,218 infections. Venezuela’s responsible approach has been characterized by a people-centered approach, and the success of the alternating opening scheme locally called 7+7.
