The website of the National Electoral Council (CNE) is being subjected to a new wave of cyberattacks originating from IP addresses hosted outside Venezuela. This wave of cyberattacks comes after the technical staff had earlier reestablished the service on the website that initially went down during the July 28 presidential elections.
This incident has been identified as a denial-of-service attack (DDoS), aimed at saturating telecommunications networks to disrupt access to the website, according to a report from VTV.
After a thorough analysis by qualified personnel, it has been determined that these attacks originate from IP addresses located abroad, indicating that this is an attack directed from outside the country.
The technical staff of the Electoral Authority is working to mitigate the effects of this new attack, in order to restore the service as soon as possible.
Earlier on Monday, internet users had reported that the CNE website could be viewed on its usual site. However, the new cyberattack occurred shortly after, similar to those that occurred in the context of the attempted cyber-fascist coup d’état carried out by the country’s far-right opposition on July 28, 29 and 30, after the presidential elections in which Nicolás Maduro was re-elected for the 2025-2031 term.
