Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro announced changes to his cabinet in order to strengthen the functioning of the government. This comes days after his re-election for the 2025-2031 presidential term was ratified by the Venezuelan Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ).
This Tuesday, August 27, during a review of the second National Popular Consultation, the president also ratified Delcy Rodríguez as Vice President of Venezuela.
Economic area
He also appointed General Menry Fernández as the new head of the Ministry of Agriculture and Lands.
Fernández, who was the National Superintendent of Agri-Food Management (SUNAGRO), will replace Wilmar Castro Soteldo who headed this important ministry since 2016.
In his speech, President Maduro also announced the appointment of Leticia Gómez to lead the Ministry of Tourism and replace Alí Ernesto Padrón Paredes.
In the economic field, he appointed Anabel Pereira Fernández as the new Minister of Economy, Finance and Foreign Trade, replacing Delcy Rodriguez.
To strengthen the energy sector, the head of state appointed Delcy Rodríguez to lead the Ministry of Petroleum, replacing Pedro Tellechea, who will move to the Ministry of Industry and National Production. Meanwhile, Héctor Obregón will assume the Presidency of Petróleos de Venezuela (PDVSA).
Social area
Grecia Colmenares will take over the Ministry of Youth, replacing Mervin Maldonado. And Arnaldo Sánchez will now take over the Ministry of Sports.
Eduardo Piñate will take over as Minister for Social Work Process, replacing Alexis Corredor.
Magaly Viña was appointed to the Ministry of Grandparents , replacing Rafael Argotti.
In the Ministry of Education and as Vice President for Social and Territorial Socialism, the national president appointed Héctor Rodríguez, the current Governor of Miranda state.
And the Ministry of Higher Education will now be headed by Ricardo Sánchez.
Jhoanna Carrillo will be the new head of the Ministry for Women and Gender Equality, replacing Dheliz Álvarez.
Defense and Sovereignty
United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) deputy Diosdado Cabello will assume the position of Minister of Internal Affairs, Justice and Peace, and the Vice-Presidency of Political Sovereignty, Security and Peace.
Public Works and Services
Carlos Guillermo Mast Yústiz was appointed as the new Minister of Water Management, replacing Rodolfo Marcos Torres.
Raúl Paredes will take over the Ministry of Housing and Habitat, replacing Ildemaro Villarroel.
Finally, Juan José Ramírez was appointed to the Ministry of Public Works, replacing Rául Paredes.
