The Electoral Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) has issued summons for all ten former presidential candidates and the representatives of their political parties of the electoral contest held last July 28, in which President Nicolás Maduro was reelected.
This Tuesday, August 6, Caryslia Rodríguez, president of Venezuela’s highest court, asked political organizations to submit “electoral elements of legal relevance” related to the presidential election process. Rodríguez also declared that next Monday would begin the “expert analysis” process for the submitted material.
The head of Venezuela’s judicial power issued a warning: failure to appear “will incur the consequences provided for in our current legal system.”
“All representatives of the parties, as well as the citizens who served as candidates, have been duly and formally summoned, and must comply with the aforementioned court order and appear before this jurisdictional body according to the published schedule,” Rodríguez said during a speech from the headquarters of the TSJ.
“The Supreme Court of Justice of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela considers it appropriate to reiterate its commitment and willingness to the Venezuelan people to deliver justice, so nothing will stop us in our sacred mission,” the statement read.
