The head of Nicolas Maduro’s Venezuela Nuestra presidential campaign staff, Jorge Rodríguez, condemned the hidden government program of the presidential candidate of the extreme right, Edmundo Gonzalez, as deeply neoliberal and intended to rob the people for the benefit of the economic interests of the oligarchy.
“This plan is deeply sadistic, because it is designed to steal from those who have the least in order to benefit those who have the most,” said Rodríguez this Monday, July 22, during a press conference.
Rodríguez explained that the “ Venezuela Land of Grace” far-right government program includes the privatization of education, health, and even the pension system. For the PSUV leader, this program is exactly the same as the plan that Milei is implementing in Argentina, destroying that country’s economy to please the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
He said that, for example, in order for young people to be able to study, this program plans for the delivery of “vouchers” so that they can pay their tuition. This, according to Rodríguez, would limit low-income people from entering the educational system.
“With these vouchers, schools, colleges, and universities will be private, and this will be a huge scam that will mean that only those who can afford to pay will be able to study,” he added.
Privatize pensions
He also noted that the program in question would “wipe out with one stroke” the mechanisms for protecting grandparents created by Venezuela’s Bolivarian Revolution.
“Privatization is when a certain Machado, a certain Capriles, a certain Lopez, say, ‘I own 300 pensions, and I do with them whatever the free market tells me.’ They seek to enslave our grandparents,” said Rodríguez.
Rodríguez added that publicly-owned companies such as PDVSA and Venezuelan territory such as Essequibo will also be handed over to US imperialism under this far-right government program.
“They are going to sell state-owned companies [and] privatize productive state companies in order to increase the cost of services,” said Rodríguez, “and put electricity, gas, transportation at unaffordable prices.” People will not receive a dime from the privatization of the companies, noted Rodríguez, because that money will be used to “pay the debts to the large corporations that already paid them to put that in their program. It is exactly what Carlos Andrés Pérez did in 1989.”
Surrender of military sovereignty
On the other hand, Rodríguez explained that the far right plans to hand over to the United States everything related to the military defense of our country.
He said that this decision also includes the elimination of the Bolivarian National Militia.
