Since February, a total of 2,557 Venezuelans have been repatriated from the United States through the Venezuelan government’s Return to the Homeland Plan. This was reported by the minister of Transportation, RamĂłn Velásquez Araguayan.
Minister Velásquez Araguayan made these comments to the press on Friday, April 11, at the SimĂłn BolĂvar International Airport in MaiquetĂa, where he received a new flight from the US with 191 Venezuelans on board.
“On this flight, 191 nationals are coming from the United States. Of them, 16 are women and the rest are men,” he reported, adding that out of all the repatriates, only two have arrest warrants from Interpol Colombia.
He further reported that this is the thirteenth flight repatriating Venezuelans from the US. “Of these, 10 have been made with Conviasa airplanes, and the remaining three flights have been from US airlines,” he highlighted.
Minister Velásquez Araguayan emphasized that the repatriates will be attended to comprehensively to provide them with a health checkup and all opportunities for immediate reintegration into society and the economy.
Migrant Repatriation Continues: 208 Venezuelans Return From US
On Thursday, another flight from the US repatriated 178 Venezuelan nationals. That flight was received by the minister of Interior Relations, Justice and Peace, Diosdado Cabello.
Among the 178 repatriates, there were 162 men and 16 women. Only one man had an arrest warrant from the Venezuelan justice system.
“The president gave a complete order, and we are complying with it. When the migrants are ready, we activate the plan,” Cabello pointed out. “Because bringing back our citizens from the United States depends on them being ready; if they are not ready and it is just propaganda, then it is not possible for us to do anything. Sometimes US authorities say they have thousands of our people, but when we ask them where they are, they ask us to wait a few days.”
