Venezuelan Foreign Affairs Minister Yván Gil condemned on the interventionist statements by the government of the United States in the voice of the Under Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs, Brian A. Nichols, who, using social media platforms, questioned the arrest warrant issued by the Court of First Instance with jurisdiction in crimes associated with terrorism against former far-right candidate Edmundo González.
Gil responded to the US emissary from his Telegram account, calling him “an accomplice of the criminal gang that tried to set the country on fire.”

“Rather than recognizing his election loss and preparing for a peaceful transition in Venezuela, Maduro has now ordered the arrest of the democratic leader who defeated him overwhelmingly at the polls. Edmundo Gonzalez has promoted national reconciliation, and we join the growing list of international partners condemning this unjustified arrest warrant,” wrote the US apparatchik questioning the decision made by the Venezuelan judiciary and repeating the unsupported tantrum of an “overwhelming victory” of the Venezuelan far-right opposition.
“Nichols’ bullying attitude is a product of the transactions that are carried out in Miami. An accomplice to the criminal gang that tried to set the country [Venezuela] on fire after losing the elections, he now throws tantrums when justice reaches the organizers of the violence and the not-recognition of public powers,” wrote the top Venezuelan diplomat.

On the other hand, the Foreign Minister urged the United States to deal with its own problems and respect Venezuelan sovereignty.
