President Nicolás Maduro stated that in Venezuela “the path is participatory and protagonist democracy,” referring to the convocation of elections of the National Assembly, governorships, and legislative councils made by the National Electoral Council (CNE).
In a social media post on Tuesday, January 28, President Maduro wrote that “In Venezuela, the country of the Guinness Record for participation, elections and the power of democracy, an empowered people is in charge!”
“The electoral authority, the CNE, has spoken, and called for elections of the National Assembly, the governorships and the legislative councils on April 27,” he stated.
The president emphasized that the Venezuelan people will not be stopped by any external factor and that “we are convinced that the path is participatory and protagonist democracy. We are going to see new leaderships, new forces in the streets, the strength of the People’s Power!”
Speaking to the media, CNE President Elvis Amoroso read a statement on Monday to announce the call for a national and regional elections on April 27.
