The minister of the Interior, Citizen Security, and Peace, Diosdado Cabello, called out the fake news circulating about “desertions” from the ranks of the Bolivarian National Armed Force (FANB). He called those who are spreading the rumors “immoral.”
During his televised program Con El Mazo Dando on on Wednesday, September 24, Cabello reported that far-right sectors have spread rumors about the alleged desertion by Division General Pedro Rafael Suárez Caballero and Batallion General Bitner Javier Villegas Ramos. According to the rumors, the former had fled to Trinidad and Tobago, while others claimed that both were in New York.

“They are immoral and then no one apologizes,” Cabello said, criticizing those who spread the rumors. “They are loudmouths, they are just talkers, and then they do not like it when you call them out.”
Both generals were present on the Con El Mazo Dando set to expose the lies of the far right.
For several days, some opposition media outlets published news about alleged defections from the FANB, thereby fueling the campaign against the armed forces and President Nicolás Maduro’s government.
