Venezuelan ambassador to the United Nations (UN), Samuel Moncada, denounced a smear campaign against his country, promoted by the United States government and certain media outlets, related to a drug shipment seized in Colombia that was destined for the United States.
“Disinformation operation in progress. The news is that the drugs left Colombia (having the US as destination), but the main stream media multiplies the falsehood that justify the aggression; the power of propaganda consists in repeating until they destroy our ability to reasoning,” wrote the diplomat on Twitter, adding that “a crime is being committed against Venezuela.”

The diplomat stressed that the media that published this information are US government operators and “turn a huge Colombian drug capture en route to the United States into a Venezuelan drug capture of the Cartel of the Suns.”
The official denounced it as a lie in service of the war and accused the media of being complicit in spreading it.
