To evaluate the possibility of resuming peace talks in Colombia, a delegation from the National Liberation Army (ELN) of Colombia arrived in Venezuela this Saturday, November 2, to meet with representatives of the administration of Colombian President Gustavo Petro.
The ELN announced their arrival on social media, representing a new opportunity for reconciliation and fostering peace in Colombia.
“The ELN dialogue delegation and its peace management arrive in Caracas to meet with the government delegation. The ELN comes to this meeting in an attempt to review and analyze the situation in the country and the causes of the crisis,” the delegation wrote on social media.
The ELN said that this approach responds to calls from various sectors of Colombian society, including social movements, the Church, international organizations, and the National Participation Committee.
According to members of the armed group, the main objective of this new meeting is to carry out an analysis of the current situation in Colombia and the variables that continue to affect the continuity of the dialogue table.
The ELN issued a statement reiterating the nature of the new peace attempt.
