The diplomat is in solidarity with the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro and the civic-military union of the Chavista people in the face of the attempt of imperialist domination as posted on his twitter account.

The president of the United States, Donald Trump, announced Monday that his government will expand existing unilateral coercive measures against the government of Nicolás Maduro in Venezuela, with a presidential decree to impose a total economic embargo against the country.
Later during the Lima Group meeting in the capital of Peru, US Security Advisor, John Bolton, in a speech said that blocking the sending of oil from Venezuela to Cuba will be the next step.
