Until May 22, candidates will have the opportunity to present their proposals, ideas, and management plans to voters.
In accordance with the electoral schedule for the upcoming May 25 elections, the campaign for candidates for deputies, governors, and members of legislative councils began this Tuesday, April 29.
According to reports from Venezuela’s National Electoral Council (CNE), the campaign will run from April 29th until midnight on May 22nd. During this period, candidates will have legally established opportunities to present their proposals, ideas, and management plans to the nation.
Venezuela’s May 25 Elections: CNE Confirms Progress in Preparations
Likewise, according to Venezolana de TelevisiĂłn, the electoral body called on all political organizations, candidates, media outlets, and the general public to promote a “harmonious, constructive campaign that respects electoral laws and regulations.”
It also called for the campaign to be based on a debate of ideas, committed to peace, ethics, and conscious participation.
36,986 applications were received for the May 25 elections, representing 6,687 candidates. Participation was balanced in regard to gender, with 53.93% men and 46.07% women.
The candidates come from 54 political organizations, including 36 national organizations, 10 regional organizations, and 8 indigenous organizations. This number of candidates, according to the CNE, reflects an increase in the number of nominations compared to the previous process in 2021.
