On several occasions dating back to 2018, the government of Venezuela denounced the orchestration of a violent conspiracy against the people of Venezuela by the President of Colombia, Iván Duque, and former Senator Álvaro Uribe Vélez, directed by Washington, asserted Foreign Minister of Venezuela Jorge Arreaza through his social media accounts.
“The media manipulation against Venezuela tried to hide it or disregard it. But the truth is unassailable. Evidence, witnesses, photographs, coordinates were shown,” Arreaza posted in a tweet.

Arreaza referred to a post by the Colombian journalist Julián Martínez, in which Martínez writes that a source reported President Duque and former Senator Uribe participated in meetings to plot a coup in Venezuela, overthrowing President Nicolás Maduro. This was mentioned in relation to testimony given by Yacsy Álvarez, interpreter for Jordan Goudreau, in which she acknowledged the participation of the highest echelons of the Colombian government in the planning of the Operation Gideon mercenary incursion.

It should be remembered that Yacsy Alexandra Álvarez Mirabal is a Venezuelan citizen whom the Colombian prosecutor’s office accuses of having supported the Venezuelan military fugitive Cliver Alcalá, in the training and financing of the group of ex-military and mercenaries on Colombian soil.
Álvarez denounced the authorities of the Government of Iván Duque for using this accusation to cover up the framework of the coup that was intended to kill or kidnap the Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.
