The Venezuelan Minister for Education, Aristóbulo Istúriz, confirmed that the 2020-2021 school period will begin next Wednesday, September 16 under the modality of distance learning.
This was reported on Tuesday in an interview for Radio Nacional de Venezuela, in which he indicated that the right to education will be done remotely to preserve health and life in the face of COVID-19.
“The important thing is that there will be a restart of classes on September 16. The fundamental thing is to guarantee the right to life and the right to health, that is why we mortgaged the right to education, which we will finish by remote means,” the Minister explained.
However, Istúriz explained that it is necessary to hold a debate to discuss whether in the month of October the proposal of President Nicolás Maduro to return to face-to-face classes is viable or not.

Istúriz added that communication media such as radio, television and social networks helped a lot in the school period that ended last July. In addition, authorities from all states have sent him the proposals that they will evaluate in the coming days.
On the other hand, Istúriz signed, together with the Minister for Commerce, Eneida Laya, Resolution 024 that establishes the methodology to be followed for setting enrollment in private education institutions.
